Startup advice: The blood and filtration one

From academic to startup, Hugo Macedo is the Founder of Smart Separations. Having failed twice and never wanting to hear the word entrepreneur again, Hugo has been there, done it and has the battle scars to prove it! Smart Separations is a venture born from his academic studies and is now a leader in the field of microfiltration technology. But, what exactly is this and how can you turn failure into a world-beating idea?

The content

In this episode for the GBU vlog, Alex speaks to Hugo who shares some of the lessons he has learnt on his journey so far, why finding the right team is vital, if you fail then fail fast and always do something you have passion for.

What’s it all about

The GBU vlog is a regular informal chat with a founder/ co-founder, finding out about their startup journey. Each episode is an honest and open conversation to unlock the good, the bad and the ugly (GBU... get it!!) in starting and growing a business. In the startup world, we all have good days, and we all have bad days, on those bad days, it can feel like the world has fallen out from under our feet.

The GBU vlog is here to celebrate successes and to champion failings. What didn't go according to plan in your journey, and what did you learn from it? Please share it with the GBU community here or with fellow startups in the comments below.
